Thirty years ago, George Michael Calger was put in a theater asylum at Oberlin College, while studying music history. Marking his debut at Chameleon with Theatre Uncorked, he has recently been seen as Col. Brandon in “Sense and Sensibility” at Theatre in the RoundRichard Hannay in “The 39 Steps” and Lloyd Dallas in “Noises Off” at Lakeshore Playersmobster Erwin Getz in “Philly” with Philly ProductionsMike Dillon in “Good People” at Lyric ArtsProf. Harold Hill in “The Music Man” at Ashland Productions; Cardinal Wolsey and Henry VIII in “A Man for All Seasons” at Open Window Theatre. He also shaved his head into male-pattern baldness to play Patrick Stewart in “Stuck in an Elevator with Patrick Stewart” (2013 Minnesota Fringe Festival).

Other favorite roles include E.K. Hornbeck in “Inherit the Wind“; Mayor Stockmann in “An Enemy of the People“; Eddie Kurnitz in “Lost in Yonkers“; Det. McPherson in “Laura“; Max in “The Sound of Music“; Philip in “The Lion in Winter“; Grandpa Joe in “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka“; Sky Masterson in “Guys and Dolls“; Cogsworth in “Beauty and the Beast“; Scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz“; Oberon in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream“; and both Mortimer and Bellomy in “The Fantasticks” (20 years apart).
